On February 13, 2023, the launch meeting of "Basic Research on Efficient Green Energy Based on Hydrovoltaic Effect", a major project of National Natural Science Foundation of China, was held in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. The meeting focused on the research objectives, contents, programs and key scientific issues of major projects. Pan Qing, Deputy Director of the Cross Science Department of the National Science Foundation; Dai Yafei, Deputy Director of the Cross Science Department; Duan Yup, Zhang Qiangqiang, Director of the Mobile Project; Academician Zou Zhigang, team leader of the project expert group and members of the expert group; Professor Dong Hao, Deputy Dean of Aviation School, Professor Guo Wanlin, project leader and all key members of the project team attended the meeting in the form of offline and online.

The meeting was presided over by Academician Zou Zhigang and Professor Gu Dongdong. Vice President Huang Zhiqiu of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Vice Director Pan Qing of Cross Science Department delivered speeches respectively. The project leader, Academician Guo Wanlin, first introduced the overall situation of the project, and the project leaders respectively elaborated on the research content, implementation plan and cooperative research among the projects.

The participating experts fully affirmed the project topic selection, implementation plan and team strength, and put forward constructive opinions and suggestions on the project implementation from the aspects of improving the basic theory of hydrovoltaic effect, focusing on paradigm innovation, clarifying the concept category of water-volt, developing in-situ characterization methods of hydrovoltaic interface, and introducing scientific research talents with multidisciplinary backgrounds. Academician Zou Zhigang, on behalf of the expert group, hoped that the project team would further develop innovative thinking and enhance the international influence of hydrovoltaic research.

Finally, Dai Yafei, deputy director of the cross-science Department, hoped that all research groups should strengthen exchanges and cooperation to tackle key problems, break the evaluation system of only papers, and produce one or two original results with important influence. Pan Qing, Deputy director of the Cross Science Department, summarized the meeting and pointed out that this major project has distinct cross characteristics. He hoped that the young members of the project team would take the initiative to act and be brave to innovate. He asked the project team to strictly follow the management regulations of the National Natural Science Foundation of China to promote the research in an orderly manner, stay true to the original intention, live up to their trust and promote the smooth implementation of the research work of major projects.
