Introduction

Dr. Zhang received his Ph.D in Nanomechanics from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in 2010. Dr. Zhang has long been committed to the study of nanoscale physical mechanics as well as nanoscale modeling and simulations. Dr. Zhang and coworkers proposed for the first time a new concept—hydrovoltaic effect based on the electronic interaction between functional materials and water and made important prediction to promote the advent of borophene. His research results in 110 SCI-indexed papers in international academic journals, including 60 papers in Chem. Soc. Rev., Nature Nanotech., Nature Chem., Science Adv., Nature Commun., PRL, JACS, Nano Lett., Angew. Chem. and JMPS. These papers have received citations of more than 5000 times, and are selected as research highlights or cover suggestions by Nature Nanotech., Nature rev. Mater and other journals. He has been awarded the National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation (Nomination Award) in 2013, and the Fok Ying-tung Education Foundation Young Teacher Award in 2020. Dr. Zhang is serving as the Associate Editor of Inter. J. Smart Nano Mater. and Front. Phys., as well as Invited Young Editor of Acta Mech. Sin. and Acta Solid Mech. Sin. He is also the member of Physical Mechanics Professional Committee, Chinese Mechanics Society as well as Professional Committee of Intelligent Composite Materials, China Composite Society.
